The big basement is currently quite dark, which makes it feel even more like a basement.

The area behind where this photo was taken will become a living area with white furniture and gray upholstery, the look will be east coast beach house:

The center area will be a pool table and eventually a wet bar with white cabinetry.  The back area by the windows will become a play area  which will eventually be separated by two short half-walls.  The brown carpet will stay for a while, but will be replaced with a lighter-colored Berber down the road.

 Just off the basement is a bedroom/office with one window  and a full bath, both with the same brown carpet.

 Could you suggest a color to make the basement look bright and fresh, along with coordinating colors for the bedroom and bath?  Thanks for your help!  -Megan
